  1.  A T O M S :  The Periodic Table of Elements

  5. Scientific Value:
  6.         ATOMS is an excellent reference guide.
  7.         There's more information packed into this chart than
  8.         other charts.  Unlike the unchangeable charts (like the ones
  9.         on the wall), this chart is flexible.  Just click the [View]
  10.         button to show the numbers you really care about on the chart.
  11.         The information is presented in a professional but 
  12.         comfortable way (hopefully also legible).

  15. Educational Value:
  16.         This chart is very different from other charts.  Most charts
  17.         focus you in on only one element.  Instead, ATOMS also shows how
  18.         they compare to other elements.  I know of no other chart that
  19.         gives you any idea of elemental property trends of the chart.
  20.         To try it, just Click on something like [Types] or [Numbers].
  21.         Or just pop them up as colors by pressing 2 or 3.
  22.  
  23.         Further, this chart is saveable as a BMP graphics file, and
  24.                 hence printable by Windows/Win95.
  25.         Take it to class or use it as a Windows background.
  26.  
  27.         3 Dimentional animated rendering and various pictures lets you
  28.         see and remember the elements (still in development).

  32. Screen Saver Value:
  33.         Looks pretty.

  37. Requirements:
  38.      COMPUTER        
  39.         A 386 is minimum.  However, with 3D rendering and advanced VESA
  40.                 graphics, please use Pentiums.
  41.      GRAPHICS
  42.         A Super VGA graphics card is a must.  Needs at least 768Kb of on-
  43.                 board memory.  Most SVGA's have 1MB anyway so this should
  44.                 not be a problem.
  45.         A Super VGA moniter is also necissary.  It must be able to handle
  46.                 1024 x 768 resolution with 256 colors.
  47.      MOUSE
  48.         Almost any would do.
  49.      INTEREST
  50.         Here's an odd requirement.  But ATOMS won't do you any good any
  51.                 other way.

  54. Installation:
  55.         Simple.
  56.         Just run the executable "Atoms.Exe"  That's the only file the
  57.         program uses.
  58.

  60. Use:
  61.         How do I use this?
  62.         Just a few minutes of trial and error and you'll suddenly be an
  63.                 expert.
  64.         Just remember the rule: All Buttons are Pressable.  This includes
  65.                 the chart, the tiny buttons, and the big buttons.  It's
  66.                 simple.
  67.         Just try it.

  72. Upgrades:
  73.     ATOMS is an ongoing project, since more information always
  74.         comes out.  It's also obvious that some functions are incomplete.
  75.         This is especially true of thr animations..it only shows the
  76.         crystal structures.  If this alpha impressed you, you're gonna
  77.         really love 1.0.  However, I envision it's completion by next year.

  79.         That's why this alpha was released now.

  81.         However, if enough critical errors are reported, I'll release 1.0 as
  82.         a fix.

  84.         Anyway..this is just for you to know that this version of ATOMS 
  85.         is not at its end.  Please send feedback to help me in the right 
  86.         direction.  Really'd like some help on interface.
